The Create Conscience Awards Save Our Steel project explored the potential closure of the Port Talbot steelworks blast furnaces and the impact this could have on the local community. Inspired by conversations with people living in and around the area, I interviewed locals about their thoughts, concerns, and personal connections to the steel industry. Their words were then transformed into a series of lino cut-inspired digital illustrations that highlighted themes of identity, community, and protest. The artwork was also adapted into posters for a wheat-pasting campaign, alongside T-shirts and placards designed to reflect the visual language of activism and public demonstration. The project received an award at the 2024 Create Conscience Awards.
